There is one case where I would accept for someone to copyright AI-generated content. That is the case where ALL of the art used to train the AI model is also copyrighted (or at the very least created) by the same person using the AI.
To put it simply, if you do not own the content that was used in the training of an AI, then you do not own the content the AI spits out. You have no right to copyright it.
