They make such a fuss about it… Please. It runs on GPUs, not witchcraft. 'Jailbreaks'? "AI" needs massive compute, power, and infrastructure just to run. Pull the plug → it’s done. It's not like it's going to clone itself onto a washing machine or your smart fridge.
I'd love to see AI stroll into a nuclear plant to swap fuel rods or crawl down a coal mine with a pickaxe. I hate when they talk about AI like it's some sort of alien from Zeta Reticuli that fell out of the sky and now we're doomed.
Until then, it's just math running on overpriced graphics cards. Yampolskiy is just another academic doomsayer tossing out apocalyptic predictions because fear makes headlines (and pays grants). ‘AI will end humanity’? Sure, and Skynet is probably already filling out its college applications.
The real problem isn't AI, it's the ongoing degradation of human society and the delusional control freaks like him.
