The current Waymo is mostly a proof of concept. Future versions will be more buslike, but without a dedicated route. It would tell you to get into this vehicle, which may have a dozen other riders in there, like a bus. It is taking an optimized route, drops off some passengers, picks up some more, drops you off at either your destination or a connection point to another bus that just happens to arrive seconds after you exit the first vehicle.
