I would like to think that AI art could eventually be a component of creating art. I've never used AI myself, but I could imagine that like photography, it could be a tool. Art can be anything. Controversy over conceptual pieces are a good example of reframing with a political or cultural context. Being visually literate is a skill and it is possible to make art that doesn't display obvious craftsmanship, but it had better be dammed meaningful and culturally relevant. At the moment I have trouble believing that that guy did anything culturally meaningful. Of course people used to think photography was cheating, and it was for a while, until human creativity transformed it.
