I disagree. I have been working as a freelance translator for close to 15 years. During the last 24 months I have observed numerous things: 1. The number of job offers has declined by roughly 60%, including from clients I have been working with for years. When I asked them what is going on, the reply was clear: We are using AI for most of our translation tasks and only outsource "difficult" translations. 2. The prices achievable and/or offered for translation has gone down by roughly 50%. When quering this with longstanding clients, the answer was: Because of the use of AI-tools we will no longer pay the rates for human work as before, because AI might not be perfect (yet), but is way cheaper to use. As I work largely creative field, the apocalypse is here. At least for me and many fellow translators, and I can no longer make a decent living of my services.
