Weather it's ethical or not is a very difficult question. But as opposed to making more advanced robots to do, well everything, replacing hard labor, or even more intellectual jobs.
What about creating robots to do things that people are unable to do? A real world example to this would be space probes. Intergalactic travel is the perfect job for a robot. As this technology gets more advanced as well as space fairing technology, new opportunities will arise such as, lets say mining an asteroid
