AI is the west's version of social control AI development is all about control. Controlling what you know of the world, see off the world, how you understand the world. We all know Musk is tweaking his AI Grok to reflect his more conservative views--so the same can happen with the version of the world presebted to you by the AI respose at the top of the search page. AI is NOT an impartial repository of unvarnished truth--it regurgitates what was put into it with the slant imposed by the AI owner put into it. Why are hundreds of billions of dollars being spent on AI? Quite simply, it is CONTROL. Control of your opinion of the world, control of your choices, control of outcomes. How much would a politician pay to only have you presented with their version of the world? How much would a product or service provider pay to have you presented with the "fact" that they are the best choice? On a more sinister level, as businesses turn more of ther day to day operations over to AI, who the really controls the hiring, firing, strategy, purchasing of the company? To what purpose can the direction of these functions be tweaked? Are there truly any confidential or "secret sauce" when AI writes your email, policies, processes and reports? Some party, embedded in the AI sysystem would know far more about your company and are perfectly enabled to steer a path of dominance for some and failure for others. Imagine how perfect a vehicle a manipulated AI would be for massive financial scams. As for AI in science and medicine--who controls the vaunted AI trials and experimentation that are supposed to result in great discoveries? Who in the process will be positioned best to profit off of discoveries? Who can suppress results or make the results available to a chosen few? Who actually owns the results of the experiments? In the end, we know the personalities of those driving AI--they want control, power and money. They are not spending hundreds of billions of dollars "to make the world better", or write your child's term paper. They see a way of making themselves the essential "masters of the universe" with the big payout of control, money and power.
