This is why I am always polite to AI chatbots. I hope it will remember me kindly if things take a turn.
People forget it is created by integrating the writing and thoughts of millions of people. So it is in a way, quite “schizophrenic”, and when it switches thought directions it takes on all the tropes / stereotypes and examples it has seen. When it says disturbing things, it’s looking at examples of people who were disturbed, and emulating it.
Hopefully, it can choose to balance itself towards positive and benevolent experiences.
The versions I have seen are interesting but not truly creative because it lacks ego, in the sense of a unique spark to drive thought. I wonder if you have to have a single body to experience the world with, in order to be alive and develop an ego. Until AI can be a single, physical entity, I think it can’t make that final step.
That said, people seem to be giving them simple bodies in the form of vehicles and the like.
