why all this hate on modern art 🥀 ok maybbbeee it's like mostly nepotism and rich people pretending to be important to other rich people but I still love expressionism and abstractism cause even if it's just paint splatter on a canvas, it's YOUR pain splatter. some pieces will be better than others, sometimes you can go "I created this paint splatter after finding out my country is at war, it's red because I'm angry" or smth which adds meaning, something that AI can never have. even if you just like begin doing stuff, drawing/writing/splattering anything that feels right at that moment, it's influenced by your subconscious and current mood and how your week has been etc etc, like your humanity leaks onto the canvas. Again, to me, that's what makes it valuable. So imo art is valuable just because you made it. Just not to everyone because you're probably irrelevant.  But imagine like if you find a child's sketchbook, one that was in the middle of a war for example and you see the way they expressed themselves and the things they drew, whether it's the horrors they see or their cat they left behind or their friends they may never get to see again. That art now has so much weight to it, regardless of the artist's experience or knowledge, just because of context. and ofc the "learn the rules before you break them" is important. But photorealistic or anatomically correct or perfectly composed pieces sometimes aren't right for expressing yourself.
