Not good enough at art in the way you are discussing but am a writer and trying to get into digital art. Disabled. Sick as all get out about how the argument that genai helps disabled and poor people with writing was part of what took down Nanowrimo. If generative AI was ethically sourced (like only being trained on images the creator has rights to and has safe guards to keep other people from funneling in images that thy have no rights to) AND if it was disclosed when it was used, AND held to similar rules as something like Fair Use (can't use more than X percentage of a thing it must be transformative, can only use it for education and critique and parody), AND if you used it for more than like... 2 percent of the art, or used it as a base and then completely changed everything about it by the end (like rotoscoping isn't photography) then *maybe* so long as it wasn't being used to take jobs away from people who would otherwise be hired, then maaaaybe. But as it is now? No thank you. Let's encourage actual artists. Art for art sake not stealing for money's sake.
