I'm in public accounting and I can see AI rapidly changing the profession. The Big 6 firms are investing 100s of millions in automation and AI while the smaller to middle sized firms, who individually have little time or money to invest in automation will first earn less because they are not as efficient, then be taken over or wiped out. People will find other jobs, what really concerns me is that while industries vanish, public sector jobs keep increasing. The public sector will be last places automation and efficiency will take hold, creating a potential for a catastrophic economic outlook.
In 1925, Germany had about 100,000 civil servants for an industrial nation of 63M people. It now has over 6,000,000 civil servants for 84M people and over 100,000 were added last year alone.
