Let me tell you about working for Amazon As one of their shipping employees, they use our scanners to track our work. They scream at us for bringing our cell phone into the building. Seriously, pull the phone out just to check the time? You might get written up. So you are absolutely correct about Amazon being control freaks. There is a lot of missing common sense. The scanners we use easily activate when putting packages away (finger scanner) and accidentally scan some bar code that it doesn't agree with. Then in the middle of the shift, the scanner automatically switches to a training program that you have to complete before the scanner will work again because it thinks you don't know how to scan the right things. So you end up getting extremely backed up during that training time and of course management aren't happy that you let yourself get backed up. 🙄 They run boxes and bags at the same time even though FedEx proved almost 20 years ago it is more efficient to run boxes then bags.🙄 They have everyone work 2 isles while they feed you packages at a much faster rate than you can stow them so that you can never catch up and are constantly working as fast as you can while they repeatedly have to stop the line because the picker has ran out of room on your rack to place packages.🙄 HR recently hired several African migrants who basically speak no English and can't do the job properly or communicate with anyone.🙄 I'm all for legalizing pot, I have a severe Anxiety problems, but they let people openly smoke in the parking lot on break (I live where its still completely illegal, 1 joint can get you 2-4 months of jail) They are going to end up ruining it for everyone. Last thing I need is the company taking their drug policy so seriously that I start getting random drug screens. Now, why in the fuck am I still working there even with all these problems? Because they pay me $19/Hr and on the weekends I make $29/Hr (shift premium) and get to pick what days and hours I want to work. It's wild as fuck that this company is all about making money but run their company so inefficiently.
