This is actually a big recurring problem on most modern technologies!
Some of those automatic paper dispensers in bathrooms have issues detecting darker skinned hands, and many facial recognition systems mistake completely different minorities for one another.
Many machines inherit the biases of their creators, generally in tech fields a variety of white dudes, which is why making sure STEM fields are equally accessible to everyone. The more diverse a field is the less likely these biases can slip through
