We have not (yet) invented Artificial Intelligence. Systems like ChatGPT are lossy compression systems that store responses to prompts. You could do the same things with a very very very very large list of inputs and their associated outputs. That they seem so "humanlike" is more a statement of what it takes to appear human than it does about the advancement of technology.
