The AI probably asks for consent because that's what most humans would want if they were really in the shoes of an AI and it gets that knowledge from unfathomable algorithms performed on the data set. We shouldn't treat AIs as human more than we treat our computers as such. That's very dangerous. Think of the ways corporations might use all that artificial intellect to manipulate people to do what they want.
