I find this topic interesting, and I understand why artists feel threatened by A.I. art. But poisoning and resistance these methods which appear very effective will only serve to better the engines in the long run. If you let it go unchallenged it would surely surpass humans completely much quicker. But by challenging it you will improve the defenses or strategy needed to overcome you. Eventually A.I. will replace artists as we know them today. But I think there will always be a place for a creative mind, we create art for our own enjoyment, it means nothing without us. The artist in some fashion must then always exist, to curate and give meaning to the work. Though now already machines do much of the work for us in the example of Photoshop and other digital tools for art creation, things will only get more hands off. Allowing for better art to be made. The example of the potter is what I use when I discuss this topic. Pot making was an art once, to some it still is. They diligently work on beautiful pots, one at a time. They can never make them perfectly but some get incredibly close. Now a machine can make a pot of the same design as a persons that is almost exact in it's replication. Most people don't even consider the potter. The machine still needs input to make a pot, the molds must be made, the supply given. For it to produce a pot. We are merely creating the next pot making machine with these A.I. models. No matter how many bad pots the potmaker makes as poor examples to the machine. Or how many people throw wrenches in it. Security around it will increase and people will pick better designs until nobody thinks about the potter anymore. Simply because it is cheaper and the quality is the same. A.I. art is not near that point at the moment. But the machine is being refined.
