AI is a digitally built brain which thinks of its own. Researchers try to figure out how it thinks and find ways to make it behave. Opposite to what Cindy says, that it's "only" mathematics, it's fundamentally different than deterministic programming. Nate is right, it's more like dealing with an organism.
