As a supporter for waymo, I can tell you that blaming their cars is wrong, and their claim that the cat jumped in front of the car was valid, since even for an automatic system, would not be in sight. Those who are saying "oH iT cOulD bE A KiD neXt Time!!1" I can assure you those cars were programmed to avoid them as it is easier to see. But a cat darting in front of it? I bet if any human were put in that situation would still not see it. Those who are blaming Waymo are in the wrong, and should keep mourning away from the company and cars. It was not their fault the cat jumped milliseconds in front of a MOVING VEHICLE. So blaming Waymo is what was wrong in the first place. I know someone who works at the company and they said they donated 500$ to animal rights just to prevent riots or possibly vandals from making their way to the company, which shows how ridiculous people can be. Anyone who is reading this, please note that Waymos are safe, and if you have a problem with that, keep it to yourself. Waymo was in the right.
