I consider myself a techno-optimist and am actually currently working on a project to integrate AI solutions at my job. I am the loudest about using it ethically, making sure whatever tools we as a company touch is trained on ethically sourced, clean data (and that this claim can be plausibly audited!), and am making sure our marketing team knows what we are losing by letting ai generate marketing images and videos for us. Big corporates are only interested in money, and they will do anything to save a penny (example, a set of stock photos for a marketing campaign costs about 5k eur. That is not even what the artist/photographer is making in the end, this is with production house fees, licences, copyright, everything included!). I refuse to give up and aside generating some images for intra-company presentations, I don't use ai images. Prompting can be fun to test the ability of the machine, but I use it just as: a toy, and don't publish my generations. I am also a little biased, as my mother uses ai picture generators to help her in her job (she creates job ads as a freelancer, for a really meager payment to support her retirement) and she "developed a style" in generating some sort of steampunk-ish factory workers. She does not consider these art, but rather a form of attention capturing (and it works!). This, however, is not art - kind of like digital candy wrappers. Shiny and nice, but once served their purpose, worthless. Although this brings up the whole question of what is considered art, but I don't want to go in too deep. I am happy Nightshade and such tools exist, the more power and resistance the true artists have, the better!
