The unfortunate thing is that AI absolutely has a place in the art community. It's an extremally useful tool that can speed up projects and the art process. I've seen lots of ethical, useful implementations of it. Sony animation is currently developing an AI system that creates frames in-between key animation moments to help with the work load and produce scenes faster. They're testing it right now with the production of the new Into the Spider verse movie. I can imagine in the next few years how that technology can trickle down to independent artists that can allow people who otherwise wouldn't have the budget or time to create long form animations to produce more work. If AI programmers just realized the potential and worked WITH artists to create useful tools then I could see these two communities coming together to create something truly innovative. Instead of creating bots that steal work while they harass artists.
