Why industrial revolution and AI are fundamentally different explains why it will destroy jobs instead of create jobs. The key point is that innovation makes the old so easy to make and cheap to make, you can't afford to pay for the people to manually do it any more. It doesn't really go away, there are still artisans making shoes, cabinetry, furniture, etc. They just now represent less than 1% of the total output commanding 1% most expensive unit costs. Everything else is automated. This in turn creates new markets that could only exist by being built of the now free corpse of the old. Ditch diggers became general contractor firms to supervise machines. The industrial revolution created new jobs filled by machines - such as assembly lines - instead of people. I believe the Intelligence Revolution will do away with human level intelligence jobs that will in turn create a marketplace that can only exist because super-intelligence beings will exists - but they will be the ones doing those jobs.
