Nothing is wrong with getting inspired by a style in the artist world. The problem is when an artist constantly is “inspired“ by a art style that all they do is copy it non stop instead of creating their own style or modifying it to make it unique. That’s when it becomes forgery and is no longer called inspiration.
Unfortunately AI is doing this constantly by copying peoples styles instead of learning to mix and match different parts of multiple styles and adding some new things that other artists haven’t done in that style before.
This isn’t a controversy people just ignore the fact that constantly copying (which is forgery) is different from getting inspired once or a couple of times and are using that as a pro AI art argument.
