AI has decimated the junior level tech sector jobs, particularly gaming and software dev. Software engineering used to be a virtual guarantee of a high starting salary. Now, it's nearly impossible to get even internship level roles. This has pretty significant ramifications in higher education, who's primary purpose is to bang out employable junior employees. Colleges and universities are a huge industry, and the bulk of their production - centred around graduating junior level potential employes, is becoming increasingly less profitable - Masters and Phd programs constitute only a tiny number of graduates per year. In the corporate world, there are still middle and senior positions, but now seniors who have been laid off are going after middle and junior roles just to make ends meet and the inexperienced juniors are pushed out completely. With no fresh blood entering at the ground level, at some point, every big tech firm is going to look like a retirement village - the middles replace the seniors, but AI replaces the juniors and middles, and eventually everybody ages out and retires. AI can't currently run businesses independent of human parcipation, and if nobody works, and nobody earns money, there's nobody to buy the products or use the software the companies make anyway. There's currently no way out. Our entire rise from sustenence farming and abject poverty has been facilitated by Capitalism. Remove that, and it's likely back to the fields and dying at 40.
