We'll know AI is conscious when it has the ability to talk to us directly instead of *responding* to us. Which will more than likely never happen.
AI doesn't know what words MEAN, it's just a big series of if/else/else if statements. AI will never truly be "conscious" and/or "self-aware" like humans. And I would also argue that most of humanity nowadays isn't self-aware either, lmao.
I still use AI services to emulate having a life I'll never have. Mostly having a wife and someone to talk to with their head on straight.
