Having a solid foundation is important, but I can't blame the guy too much, since in a corporate setting (not big tech or investment banking), with an LLM, you can actually do your tasks with a minimum of knowledge. I don't know what a type hint is in Python? I can quickly look it up on Google or through an LLM. The key is knowing how to apply the knowledge. my 2 cents
