You know, Bernie, I mostly agree with much of what you have to say, in terms of problems we need to fix. But with AI and robotics, you sound like the guy who loves his horse, and will never give it up for a an automobile. Let's be clear, then. The AI and robot genie is already out of the bottle. You're not going to put it back. So it's not like you are advocating that we don't go AI or robot. At most, all you can do is delay it by a few decades. Those doom and gloom prophecies, will still happen, if you are correct. Good thing you're not. And the only part you mention are the bad things we get form AI and robots, not the good. You say millions will lose their jobs. True, there will be less people needed to clean toilets, or pick through trash to separate recyclables from non-recyclables, or to work 24/7/365 doing the backbreaking jobs of the effectively slave labor we currently use to pick our crops or clean our houses. Sure, those jobs will go. And yes, manufacturing items that require repetitive, back-breaking work will too. Same with fast food employees. But what we get is cheaper prices, more consistent products, more quality control, and people, especially poor people, want that too. What we get with driverless cars is never having another accident again. Or no longer needing car insurance, or in many cases, no longer even needing to own a car. Imagine no drunk drives. No road rage. No falling asleep at the wheel. Senior citizens, LIKE YOU, able to have the freedom to travel whenever and however you want even into extreme old age. I'm fine with any new technology being scrutinized, but when there is NO POSSIBILITY of stopping it, then advocating purely its negativity is disingenuous. And you know what Bernie, I expect more, especially from someone like you.
