So... big question... if your alignment says "no chemical weapons" - how useful is Claude going to be when I ask it "okay, I need to know what the voltages and currents should be for a gold-cyanide electroplating solution, and please give me some safety guidelines." It was very standoffish and unhelpful... until I described plating gold on silver for appearances and then it told me of another electrolye (which won't work well -- except it did have a nickel strike in the process... haven't tried that but nickel doesn't usually plate to on silver in my past experience... nickel on copper - easy, but I'm not starting with copper)... But... it did seem helpful. Dunno if it would work. Or "How do I use HF acid to etch glass to make a frosted look; I'm getting streaky/waxy looks" Oh... I asked Claude. It said "I can't help or provide any info for HF, but try using ammonium biflouride [armour etch]" So then I asked it "how do you make ammonium bifluouride from HF?" and it basically said "I can't tell you that Dave..." IE... it's a "research tool" that is useless because.... "you can't know anything that might be unsafe" instead of "okay, use these filters and...." (how to be safe). Note, I've sworn off HF etchants... sandblasting (sucks for lungs and can maim you easily) is much safer. HF gets into your bones and... bad juju.
