Im an artist and dont defend ai art but also dont understand how you expect people to respect visual art when a polluck can go for millions meanwhile something wlop makes would fetch a good 1-2k on a good day. 🙄 If you set no standards and say "everything is art" or "art is just expression" or "no art is bad" then you can't be mad when people start jumping on that standard. Its a problem. We overvalue old art when the traditional artists today are by all means miles ahead of painters from 1810. 😭🤌 A dot on a canvas sold for millions. Like hell nah. I'd genuinely argue the reason why art is so devalued in all industries right now(music, acting, photography, animation, visual, voice acting, etc) is literally the fault of visual artists not applying standards to their craft. This infatuation with historical art blows me because every other form of "art" had progressed over time and is PRAISED for its progression and its IMPROVED versions are considered higher value... Yet in visual art, like I said, a polluck can go for millions while something wlop(literally if ur a visual artist and have any form of social media you know this artist) wouldnt even get 1/100th of the polluck's value. Edit: checked prices. WLOP sells print and art ooks for less rhan 100 bucks. Meanwhile Jackson Pollucks "blue poles" sells for 500 million and its something I could do with a paint bucket and an hour worth of time. Cooked.
