Haven't the US and the West always been doing that? Not to be too Luddite about it, but with new tech let's make money by cutting employees, first give the job (blue or white) to the less-trained less expensive (first slaves and children, then low-wage immigrants), now robots and AI. It's just the final form of America and may be rest of the world, where the few rich get EVERYTHING, but give JUST ENOUGH to keep the people forever poor so they don't riot and break out the guillotines. ... only now even if the people revolt, well, we've been arming the police to the death, and with the help of AI and high tech, we'll just kill anyone who protests and blame it on the Communists. Yay America.
