Humans often harm Gaia because they need something or want something that will result in the harm of Gaia. We have done many things in our modern (the neolithic onwards) period that have damaged our environments, often to our own detriment. Why would we expect A.I to do anything else? the danger is that they can go from the neolitihic to the nuclear age in a matter of minutes and when you go that fast, how can you predict, understand or even care about the possible implications and impacts?
