I question, and a point to say:
The question is - what if an aspiring artist uses an AI to generate art, and then re-draw it, modifying it for their own imagination? Is it still theft, when it involves a human being analyzing it and changing it, tracing over the lines and re-drawing it, throwing away unwanted details and adding in new details?
The other point is this: I am NOT a Luddite. I am all for humanity experimenting with artificial intelligence to automate creative labour - but only in a world, where humanity has had a frank discussion about the nature of labour and jobs. When AI has the potential to banish real artists to the streets where the stay starve, or into the cubicle and 9-to-5... I cannot condone that. However, if we implemented Universal Basic Income, or something similar, and ensured that all of the population would reap the benefits of automation and labour-saving technology, I would be 100% for AI-produced art.
