Yes that the thing of it. I always say:
Progressivism: replacing _what works_ with what sounds good.
The argument that is "future proofs society against automation" is just a bunch of glittering generality crap. As Naval Ravikant states - UBI is a NON solution to a NON problem. That is, the purported "problem" of "automation killing jobs" at some supposed future time is not an actual problem and even at that, not a problem we actually have today. So why are we obsessed with imposing a "solution" today for an imagined problem tomorrow that doesn't exist today. And then, even at that, UBI isn't a solution for _any_ problem, real or imagined.
And then there's the fact that this is all a completely retarded and ignorant and false representation of how economies work and what they do in general, and of "capitalism" specifically.
And, this is just an example of what I call an "economic perpetual motion machine" which is to say a plausible construction for how to get something for nothing that is thermodynamically impossible to function as proposed.
