There does need to be regulation, but without some real quantification of loss a lot of that is probably up to the honor system and the court of popular opinion. At the end of the day, if a person commissioning art is just satisfied with AI art over traditional, then there honestly nothing any amount of government intervention or regulations can help. This is kind of the problem, a company with the money sees on paper that we can generate 10-100x the images from the same amount of commission for a handful of pieces, the executive there is going to pick the first option unless they might happen to have a relationship with a traditional artist and understand the situation. Sad that's how things will just work out most of the time without proper outreach, the company will claim quantifiable loss with their expensive lawyers by not doing it with AI and get their way without influence or convincing. A traditional artists target audience for this debate really has to be the customer, not other artists.
