So if we have 99% unemployment where does the money come from to pay for any business using AI. That's dumb AI and dumb business to destroy it's consumer market. Surely the optimal way is a process of equilibrium rather than a race to the bottom. At some point the AI realizes that it needs people to meet it's goals. (excluding warfare AI)
