OK, let me understand this: companies are under pressure for growth so they lay off millions of workers and replace them with AI (in theory); the US economy lives off consumers. If you fire millions of consumers, people will not buy your products. So this bet cannot work out long term. Lets just assume the US loses 30 million jobs. Thats 30 million (plus the families) less consumers who cannot buy cars, TVs, vacations, houses, subscriptions etc... how do they think this will work? And so many jobs cannot even be replaced by AI for multiple reasons. For me watching from regulated Germany this all sounds like a wet dream of tech CEOs who live in thier bubble and all went nuclear after the chatgpt release fighting for something that looks promising but is far away from something that will boost GDP by 40%, cure all types of cancer in 2 years, finding world changing earth materiels, and have robots fighting crimes and fires (all those things were mentioned by tech CEOs)
