Huh. I'm confused.
I do think there's a difference between a person replicating art and AI replicating it. Not as big as people make it out to be, but there's a somewhat difference.
But the response to this, in the video, was why AI generation was different from man-made. But the specific point was in reference to replication.
I also agree that human being inspired is a lot more valuable to me and more interesting. While AI is not inspired, it just copies...
Except that the goals might not even be the same meaning the 2 different things could be used or valued differently from each other, and both could be something someone else wants even if I don't.
I can't force others to enjoy art the way I do. And I also can't force them to stop liking or seeing value in something that I don't. (Referring to specific case by case scenarios, not AI as a whole).
I mean... if someone can't find the original artist because they're looking at AI images, not looking at the AI images isn't gonna help them find the original artists the AI images were based on. If anything, there should be category for the art and you just go looking for similar art. The hard part is telling AI from a real person. But we're slowly getting better at regulating that. I DO think ALL AI material should be required to announce that it is AI material. I think maybe if it's trained heavily by anything existing, they should also have some kind of tab that lists all the sources.
I don't think it's "disgusting" like you say... Because if anything, more attention is drawn to some of these artists in spite of AI, or people are gonna come across those artists one way or another anyway just as they always did. To me, it's the competition aspect. Really, they just need to separate AI from real art. Also, AI should never be used for profit unless it's trained off of work from the very people who are trying to profit. If you AI yourself, then by all means. lol Although, AI being infamous and a bit soulless probably makes it a risky business move. I think that's a bit unfair but the criticism is valid. If anything, using it as a tool or sparingly and how you use it matters more. But I know I'm probably alone on that. lol
When you outlined the boots... you very deliberately outlined the real boot neat and smooth, but outlined the AI boot like a scribble, and even cut off the toe of the boot because it was blocked off by an image in the foreground. lol I mean... I'm sure you could have done it with less obvious bias and still made good point.
I never heard of a Luddite before so thanks for the info. I do think it's a stretch too and honestly.... How very dismissive. I hate when people are completely dismissive of opposing views.
Using disabled people as a reason is pretty crappy. lol
Yeah that Gemini example was SUUUPER cringey. LOL And I actually do find intrusive AI even more annoying, because while I don't think AI is COMPLETELY evil, I think it's harmful to shove it in peoples' faces and to embrace it to the extreme people have. It's changing the way people think and how they interact with things.
