Neil you fail to realize the Kiosk and self check out have taken people's jobs and there is not replacement for those people. That's less people at work. There is usually one tech to fix all the machines in the self checkout. When it used to be 4 employees at each of those. I live in the city, Bridges and tunnels got replaced by tech each lane had a least 2 workers per shift. Now there's none. That example is everywhere even airports, self driving cars is going at the truck and shipping industry. We had less population during the 1950 horse era. Losing human jobs to tech now is a massive change to economy and people's lives. Being a scientist will always make him excited for the science vs what it will cost the people and economy at the time cause they see in 10yrs it won't matter new generation will grow within the new tech world.
