You're right. There are a couple of things I find interesting. First, that this society routinely ridicule the fictional societies in dystopian media because they feel it should be obvious where technology like AI is going to end up, and yet they're not sophisticated enough to realize that those fictional societies rarely if ever have a century worth of media forewarning them of what can happen. Actual society has. And yet it still plods ahead in like fashion. The same thing happens with the history of empires falling. And yet the American empire is set to be the shortest of almost any empire in history despite having more information on how not to fall than any empire before it. The American empire is full of citizens who take no personal responsibility for its maintenance, ridicule knowledge, and refuse to discuss affairs of state. Things which other citizens of previous empires did as personal pastimes and even with that, they couldn't maintain. How do we expect to? Don't let anyone convince you via societal mandate that real life stopped existing once the media made AI became a buzzword. That's all I hear online nowadays and it makes me sick. People chanting "AI" at everything they see. Thinking that's rebellious and based. It misses the point. Who gives a fuck whether or not someone on YouTube Shorts is dancing with a real barn owl. Barn owls exist. So do people dancing. In real life. Things have been happening for 4.5 billion years on this planet that most wouldn't believe if they hadn't seen them. No AI necessary. They didn't just start because the media says AI exists, any more than everything being fake news because someone invented that term, or that every single guy who doesn't placate women is an incel because someone started using that term after discussing Elliot Rodger. The world predated all of this. And it will outlive all of this. Don't stop knowing that. Or just pray for the asteroid. It's, gratifying. It's the only thing that will truly solve this. Humanity won't.
