i like that she calls these people quasi religious. the idea that AI will lead to a utopia or dystopia is ridiculous. after all, the AI is trained on human data, so the ceiling for what it can do, is what humans have already done. what's out of the question is that AI is extremely useful. i've seen youtube videos of people generating pictures with AI, and then turning them into 3D graphics, that they then 3D print (which is really cool). also AI can turn images into vector graphics, which is nice for people who make engravings or similar things. personally i like the AI generated music xD i like being able to pick what the songs are about (and what language they are in, i'm from Europe..). i'm also currently trying to make a pokemon-like game with AI, the game already has over 3.000 lines of code and, even tho there is a long way to go, it already works pretty well. the intersting part: i don't know how to code xD i've only had an introductory Java course once, but that is not actionable knowledge. with the help of AI tho, quite a lot is possible. i like the interview, but i wish there was more information, for example: how much of the energy use is for training the models compared to how much is for using them?! also i nuclear energy is extremely save. Amy is wrong to claim that "it can't be made save". nuclear is one of the most promising technologies for fighting climate change, because it generates energy around the clock and as needed (not when the sun is shinging and the wind is blowing). not that renewables are bad.. but nuclear could be the backbone of fighting climate change. especially shutting down a nuclear power plant, is a crima against humanity, because the enviromental cost, which is building the plant, has already been paid. Germany, for example, fired up some coal power plants again to make up for closing down nuclear. it's crazy
