A lot of the technologies that took decades to hit the mainstream were artificially subdued like when big oil buried EVs when large progress was made in the 90s and GM had the electric skateboard design in 2002 which Tesla eventually used for their vehicles. Point being is that AI is advancing very fast and it will only keep improving, while it may not replace coders it will reduce the overall need for bodies when busy work can be relegated to AI. It's the same thing with farming and the industrial revolution, most people used to be farmers, now in the U.S. 2% of the population feeds the other 98%.
