You know, I really appreciate this video. I think it is so commendable how so many large YouTuber artists are leading the way in how to have healthy discussions over things that you are extremely passionate about. anger, hurt, causes that are worth fighting for, all of this but also with grace and dignity. Little baby freedom fighters cause more problems than they fix. It was Marc Brunet’s video that changed changed me from being ready to fight to ready to listen. You can go to war without selling your soul. One thing that I don’t think very many people consider is that it is not the Big industries that are the ones who benefit from this most. I am reminded of a friend of a friend of mine who wanted to become a filmmaker. they sunk everything they had into making a very ambitious movie. you can look it up if you want. “ pendragon. Sword of his father“ They ended up doing pretty well off for themselves. Most aspiring young filmmakers do not have such success. when this movie came out it looked like they were going to be in debt for the rest of their lives because of it. This movie was actually used as a cautionary tale in my friend group as a kid. I have another friend who did the same thing. He made the movie “ scramble!” This man sunk everything he had into making a movie that had an extremely cool promise and a ridiculously large cast of very well developed characters. You could feel the passion radiating off of some of those scenes. it was a very hard movie to watch. Oh my goodness this one was rough. We’re talking early 2000s green screen done on a home computer rough. It did not make him any money. he tried to sell the Rights to the screenplay. Big business filmmaking didn’t want it because it was not a guaranteed success. he converted it to book format and sold it as a novel. we all know how self publishing books on Amazon goes. That was all before I met him. It was meeting him, hearing his story, and watching his movie that inspired me to start YouTube. The idea was to build a fan base so that we could generate hype for his story. He made me promise that I would not invest any money into this project and that I would not push myself to the point of compromising health. it is people like him and myself that will benefit from AI. The reason why we will benefit is because the only people that can make video games and movies and other large projects without compromising vision are people with resources. I am an artist by hobby. A year ago I thought about trying to start doing commission work. The reason why I decided not to is because of how toxic aspiring artist are. go to the Facebook amateur animators group and ask if there would be anyone who would be willing to work for free and see what happens. it gets ugly over there. I have done a lot of work for other people and by principle I refuse to be paid. I refuse to be paid because I don’t want this to be how artists make money in 10 years. The person with the idea should make the idea and they shouldn’t have to sacrifice a career in another field of study to be able to have the skills to do it. Sure, if you guys can follow your passion and get paid for it that would be awesome. Having said that I do empathize with y’all. I have had my dreams crushed my forces outside of my control on more than one occasion. I have done everything I possibly could to achieve success and still failed. personally I think it is beautiful that you all are rising up as a community to defend each other. that is what communities are supposed to do. I do not believe that any of these companies have done anything that is illegal. Whether it is immoral is dependent upon your beliefs of whether or not ends justify the means. That’s a gray area. This isn’t a fight of good guys versus bad guys. I see this as a situation where two groups that would normally be friends are interfering with each other‘s best interest. if AI generated art loses out I don’t think I would be upset with anyone who fought for that to happen because you were just doing the right thing by standing up for each other. If you would like to know what the perspective of the other side is consider this. Disney is a hop skip and a jump away from being the children’s media version of Monsanto. companies like Disney are the only ones that can make movies so they don’t have to worry about too many different competitors. To people who do not know any better artist look like rich folk, fortunate enough to be able to spend all of their time doing some thing they enjoy, protecting their investments. The people who scream and yell and shake their fists cement this image in the minds of their opponents.
