I had a similar experience but at least I was smart enough to not make a clown of myself.
I was writing a theoretical summary on that day's class topic (some chronic disease that I can't remember now) and used chatgpt to fill in the gaps. Then it mentioned something about a "Berlin diagnostic criteria" and I put ut in my report. Then, when looking up for sources to back up my wall of text I couldn't find anything about that Berlin criteria. When I asked chatgpt about it, it replied something like: "I'm sorry, the Berlin criteria does not exist, I made it up, sorry bro".
I feel like I dodged a bullet there.
