tbf the guy in 2018 at first seems like some random guy doing his home made experiments rather than a souless corporation jumping on the trendy AI fever, a dude who unknowingly set a legal precedent that ended up saved us all from the big AI wave that came years later. At first it seems a bit rude to make fun of his art back in 2018, when all this predates the disgusting AI bubble and nobody would have known what this would have become, guy literally looks like someone who did some stuff in a very pioneer, experimental and rudimentary way, which has some dedication behind it and isn't just random idiots thinking they are good artitsts because they can type promps and have a machine spit them a generic result. Doing this in 2018, without the moral implications that it has nowdays because of the use and spread this technology has had, nor all the research already done and how easy to adopt these technologies are for anybody to use, This person may have just wondered if creating artificial images through a computer was possible and tried programming a very rudimentary system that can do that just out of scientific curiosity or artistic passion, specially given this guy wanted to copyright and protect this "art" he may have had an artistic background because thats a very weird thing to do otherwise with such a niche technology. Effor and passion are what births art after all, and i would say generating that image, back in 2018 after probably months of development, without any real economic aspirations, could be considered passionate art, as weird and ugly as the image may be. Weirdest things have been done NOTE: Ofc, idk where this guy stands nowdays, or what he is up to, he may have become just another AI bro that rides the AI bubble as if its the 2nd comming of christ, in which case "laught at this user", but by the information provided on this video, dude just looks like a guy who liked to do experimental shit and in no way could have predicted what AI would become, not to be made fun of so directly in a video as if he were "John AI art" himself.
