As someone who uses AI daily (GPT through the API and ChatGPT alike, Claude and various local LLM), this is a good fiction. AI now is still pretty much dumb. That conversation with 'Sydney'...sigh. Unless that's the kind of reply you're looking for from the AI, it will not suddenly spit that kind of answers. Maybe someday it wil magically gain consciousness or who knows but now, nope.
Also in case of LLM like ChatGPT etc, you can literally give these AIs personality or persona in general and they will happily play 'roleplay' with you. As Trump, Taylor Swift, especially fictional characters. Yes, that's including 'conscious AI' role. They are just basically good actor mimicking human based on their training data. You'd be surprised of how nasty they could behave based on the personality you gave them. Especially if you 'Jailbreak' them.
