In no way am I defending AI, but I will say as a "concept reference," and not an actual reference, prompt generators are life savers. Say you want to create a character concept, but you're drawing a blank on what they would look like. Type in a few prompts into one of those free generators, and "oh hey, that's a neat concept," and use it as a jumping off point. Like, to use an AI generated video I once saw, it featured a white horse dragon creature. Obviously it's AI, but some of the concepts such as the general coloring (white and gold) and its shape (equine like body with a more reptilian head) can be translated into something you can then use. It's like seeing shapes in clouds or cracks on the sidewalk, or even just overhearing a passerby talking. At least, imo, if you use AI as more of a prompt generator, it can be useful. But there's also so much wrong with how AI art generators are made that, right now, I think we need to fix the process (stealing, possible illegal material, copyright, etc.) before it can be a tool.
