I have a take on this: I think it's going to be the second big revolution in what art is for. I think modern art really came along with the invention of the camera. Art in the west used to be for the purpose of showing people what things really looked like. Portraits, landscapes, battles. It was meant to literally convey information to people about what things looked like. Then, we had a machine that could do that, and art shifted into using colours and shapes and brush strokes the camera couldn't pick up. It was about exposing the beauty of things on a different level than we could see them on. I think AI art is great for logos and cute designs and aesthetically pleasing images but I have yet to see any emotion. I think the next revolution in art is going to be humans communicating raw emotion to eachother through their art on a level the robots can't reach yet.
