The reference on the video game helped me to understand exactly what the problem with AI art is (I already knew it was bad, but I did not know why exactly.) I'm a writer, I've written characters and roleplayed since I was about ten years old. While making characters I have learned over time to see where I unconsciously put things that happened to me. I get inspired, but ultimately inspiration is different from copying work. In every single character I make, I can see traces of my own existence, thoughts and life bleeding through to them. Calling AI inspiration is downright disgusting, because AI can probably spit out something similar to what I write; but it will never make the connections of my humanity, my existence, my thoughts and my life and how it bled through to my characters. It would play my characters to a T and not use improvisation, that would be extremely boring.
