When the popular rhetoric and certainly the Founding Fathers talked of opportunity in America, I'm sure they didn't have the current system in mind. If even half of predictions about AI come true, that's definite grounds for establishing a Universal Basic Income. Say, $40K/yr per "worker". The US bilionaires, 942 of them, have a collective net worth of about $6.6Tn. Let's be very generous and allow them to have $1B and not a penny more. That's 6.6Tn - 942Bn = $5.67Tn . That, divided by 40K/yr, is 141.9 Million people (the number who get 40K/yr). Note well that billionaires can still have their first billion - plenty for their family to live on for several generations (including descendants).
