It's incredible how you believe Clearview AI to be the problem. Anyone can now build and train an AI face-recognition software with public photos (You can use python or C++ and some of their libraries, IMB db2 database to build your own). You can get data directly from facebook, linkedin, google, instagram and other social media. The solution is not to shut down or take to court a particular corporation.
How about not posting pictures?
I believe this tech to be useful for improving home security. Imagine identifying the person who's stalking you or someone who's trying to get into you home, is then the technology bad? How about having a zero knowledge system and no particular individual access the information? Also, you take the worst possible scenario to prove your point. How about recognizing the practical applications of this technology? if the algorithm has flaws why not to fix them? It's not a free to look app and the photos are publicly available so if your photos come up on a search the responsibility is not on the company but on the person who posted it and made it publicly available. Take some responsibility of what you post online.
