It is just further Dunning-Kruger effect induced by the internet. People have been thinking, writing, and discussing art for millenia, if not longer. You can't just walz in that age old discussion because you wrote a prompt and it created a pretty picture. It goes so much deeper than that.
This becomes readily apparent when one simply asks for a single example of this so called AI art. Sure AI can create interesting pictures, but that does not make it art. Try to get Chatgpt to write poetry. It will look like it, it will kinda rhyme, it will have phrases that are comprehensible, but it is all just empty and bland. That is because there is no meaning between the words, there is no experience tying everything together.
Same with an AI picture, it will look like a painting, it will have the shapes and forms like a painting, but it doesn't really say anything, there is nothing beneath the surface. And that is because AI can not give meaning you don't instruct it to give. And to do that, you need to be able to have an extremely crystalized understanding of the meaning of the artwork that you can put into words in a way that a language model can make something out of it. Most artists don't work like that, but find out the meaning in a sort of dialogue with the process of creating the artwork. You start out with an idea, but as you are building the parts you see new connections, new perspectives, new ideas, new problems, and you slightly change the artwork, which will again put you on a new path with new insights. The meaning develops in the process itself.
